Borehole Project
Updated June 2010
Many thanks to the Devon Peace Group who raised most of the money to drill the borehole the cost of which was £10,000
Total depth of borehole 96 meters.
Discharge water table 50m.
The borehole is capable of extracting 20000 litres per hour, but we should only extract 60% = 12000 litres per hour, which is plenty for the whole area including Bumala and Bukhakala Schools.
Price Breakdown: dependant on exchange rate which does fluctuate, and inflation
Electric Pump
To Supply and Install a submersible pump - Cost KSH 355,000 Approx £3500- 3550
Accessories

All equipment has now been purchased and installed, ready for the three phase electricity supply which was brought into the Bumala area in May, by the local Government electricity department.
We are now just waiting for the technician to connect this electricity to our borehole pump, which should be within the next month, we will then be able to have the water flowing to the Tree Nursery, Schools and surrounding area, what a wonderful sight that will be, Disease free, fresh, clean water.
All of our projects depend on this water, the banana plantation on its own, needs 20litres of water per three suckers every week. The local school will be able to provide sanitation facilities for the children to wash their hands.
The total paid for this borehole project has been around £19,000 this included the cost of the drilling of the borehole, power house, header tank, pump, accessories, installation, and labour.
Thank you to all who have helped us achieve this fantastic project
