Decoy Primary School, Decoy, Newton Abbot
Twinned with Masabula School, Bumala in 2005
Agreed to raise funds to build two classrooms.
April 2007 - Headmaster and 4 Teachers went on fact finding trip to Bumala to see and meet the staff and children of Masabula School. The school put on a wonderful display of the children dancing and singing. Many speeches were given to thank them for their hard work in raising the funds to build the classrooms, and the gifts of equipment given to the school.
Philip one of the pupils presented the Teachers of Decoy with hats that he had made, and many pupils and parents wanted to shake hands with them. A wonderful but tiring day was had by all.
Since their trip the School has continued to raise funds for the Bumala Trust and Masabula School. with money raised from Harvest Festivals, and other events.
Fundraising events in 2010:
April - The School is joining us in a shoe recycling collection, to enable us to buy new school shoes for our children in Bumala.
September 25th - Auction being held at the school, Richard Bearne as Auctioneer, Tickets £5 to include buffet, soft drink and lucky number Viewing from 5.30pm. Buffet 6.30pm. Auction 7.30pm.
Many good lots to Auction including: A years family membership to Paignton Zoo, attraction tickets, meals, collector items etc.
March 2010 update news
Trustees visited Masabula School to check on the progress of the two new classrooms, they were happy to see that the classrooms are being used, and just need the completion of the plastering, and rendering.
Trustees were also greeted by the headmaster and teachers, who sent their best wishes and thanks to Decoy Primary School for funding the classroom, and for their gifts of stationary, books and sports equipment.
Phillip the boy who made the decoy teachers hats on their visit in 2007 has the top marks in the school, he has been offered a place in boarding school, but his family do not have the funds to pay for this so he will need sponsorship to be able to go.
