Home Life - Joanne lives with Grandparents, brother and another orphaned cousin. As she is HIV+ she is on a special diet of high protein with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits.The Grandmother does not look after her very well, and often takes the food that is meant for Joanne, and sells it, so Esnas (our social worker) has to go to the house often to make sure Joanne gets her food and treatment, she also has to fight hard to make sure that Joanne is not abused by grandparents by carrying things that are too heavy.
Out of school she fetches water, collects firewood and helps to grind maize.
Sleeps with the other children in a separate hut.
Enjoys - Maths at school and likes to eat rice and ugali with Talapia(fish).
Joanne wants to be a teacher.
