Kingskerswell Primary School, Kingskerswell
Twinned with Bukhakhala Primary in Bumala in 2008
When Kingskerswell Primary School twinned with Bukhakhala they agreed to raise funds to build and complete a nursery classroom.
Bukhakhala School has no running water, sanitation is very poor, no washing facilities, The children do not get any school meals. most of them only have one meal a day which may be just rice and beans.
There is no electricity at present.
The Bumala Trust is hoping to provide the school with clean water and washing facilities when we can get the pipes laid from our borehole.
April 2009
Trustee's visited Bukhakhala School and saw the foundation that had been laid for the nursery class, the money needed was raised by the school
November 2009
Peter Weyama returned to Bumala after visiting Kingskerswell with enough funds that had been raised by the school to complete the walls and roof.
2010
Trustee's will visit Bukhakhala School to check on progress of nursery class and report back to Kingskerswell
Update of visit
Trustee's were very happy to be greeted by the Teachers and children of Bukhakhala Primary School. The classrooms have now got the roof on and need plastering, windows and finishing features. The children are very happy to be sitting in a dry room to have their lessons instead of outside in the rain.
Many thanks were extended to Kingskerswell School for their efforts in funding, their gifts of school equipment and letters from the children.
Fundraising events in 2010:
Kingskerswell are having fundraising events in the school to finish the external and internal fixtures of the nursery classroom. This classroom will cater for the children from age 5 onwards. At present these children are having lessons outside under the trees, if it rains they have to go home.
